Selective Review
Request an Investigation Readiness Review
A selective review for engineering teams losing time to unclear tickets, recurring investigations, support escalations, hidden dependency risk, and work that starts before understanding is solid.
Many teams do not mainly have a coding-speed problem. They have an investigation problem. smpl helps teams investigate more rigorously by combining codebase intelligence, contextual memory, and grounded engineering analysis.
§ 01 · WHAT THIS REVIEW IS
A first look at where investigation is costing the team.
This review is designed for engineering teams whose work routinely begins before understanding is solid.
We look at the kinds of tickets, escalations, and incidents the team is being handed, the structure of the investigations they are running, and the places where ambiguity, dependency risk, and lost context are slowing or distorting decisions.
This is not a generic process audit. It is a selective review to determine whether grounded investigation infrastructure could meaningfully change how this team handles unclear work.
§ 02 · WHO IT'S FOR
Best fit for teams paying for insufficient understanding.
Unclear Tickets
Work routinely arriving without enough specification to safely begin.
Support Escalations
Investigations that require senior engineers to reconstruct context every time.
Hidden Dependencies
Architectural relationships that are easy to miss until they cause incidents.
Lost Context
Prior investigations that disappear after the thread goes cold.
§ 03 · WHAT THIS MAY SURFACE
What this review may surface.
What we're looking for
- Where the cost of unclear work is concentrated — tickets, incidents, support, or planning
- How often investigations are running, and how much they restart from zero
- Whether prior context is being preserved or rediscovered each time
- Where grounded investigation infrastructure could change throughput more reliably than more engineers
- Whether a deeper Investigation Engine deployment appears justified
§ 04 · WHY IT'S SELECTIVE
Why not every request is accepted.
Investigation infrastructure is not the right answer for every team. Simple queues, well-specified backlogs, and small systems do not need it.
We prioritize teams where investigation friction, dependency risk, or recurring context loss are materially affecting how engineering work moves.
The goal is not maximizing applications. The goal is identifying teams where investigation infrastructure can genuinely change how this work happens.

If there appears to be a strong fit, that is where the real conversation starts.
Every request is reviewed manually. If the fit looks strong, we'll follow up to better understand the environment and determine whether a deeper next step makes sense.
That next step may be an Investigation Engine deployment, a Codebase Intelligence Review, or another engagement path depending on where the leverage appears first.
